|I have a license for VMWare Workstation Pro 16.0 and I'd like to install it on my laptop running Gentoo with systemd as the service manager. I downloaded the installer provided by VMWare and was able to run it after making it executable. At about the 51% mark, the installer outputs this message:
|No rc*.d style init script directories were given to the installer. You must manually add the necessary links to ensure that the vmware service at /etc/init.d/vmware is automatically started and stopped on startup and shutdown. |
Is there a way to create a .service file that will either call the installed "/etc/init.d/vmware" script or duplicate its functionality?
Edit: I was able to figure out how to create the appropriate service file myself using the documentation I found at the link below.
