Firefox can now be set as the default system PDF viewer.
The real question obviously is what will come first: chrome as pid1 or webrenderd?

Web browsers being a PDF reader is the LEAST offensive thing they're doing right now.

I took it as more of an indictment about the general bloat of what browsers should not be doing.

I thought PDF were well known to be a risky source of bad behavior, but it seems as though I've been seeing more and more use of PDF over the last few years than previously. Maybe that''s coming from the Browsers Are The OS crowd who also seem to prefer free-range js in browsers.

Well technically HTML was always a greater source of bad behaviour than PDF ....

You certainly think of a "j" script accompanied with HTML ?

Directly or indirectly? I don't recall HTML being a direct security issue.

And that's what I'm indicting as well. Has anyone tried keeping up with the latest CSS/HTML/JS specs?

I've never kept up with specs. Recently I believe I have heard about some HTML items possibly influenced by Google, including but not limited to DRM. I've not heard of anything CSS related that seems particularly questionable, although I can't say that I recall hearing anything at all about it. And my only issue with js is that it is mostly unrestricted.
