So, I have the .iso of a Windows game that I'm trying to install via wine, and it's hanging on the following errors. I mount the .iso to a directory with "mount -o loop, exec file.iso install/" I get told "mount: /path/to/install: WARNING: source write-protected, mounted read-only." When I go into install, I use the command 'wine64 setup.exe', and get the following error:

Code:
00b8:err:module:__wine_process_init L"D:\\setup.exe" not supported on this system

I also get this error:

Code:
wine: Read access denied for device L"\\??\\D:\\", FS volume label and serial are not available.
wine: Read access denied for device L"\\??\\Z:\\", FS volume label and serial are not available.

So what am I doing wrong? I'm using wine-staging-5.13.

Thanks for the help.

The problem may be in the lack of 32 bit binaries in wine. You can check it running
Code:
emerge -pv wine-staging
and looking at the value of ABI_X86.

That was it. Thank you.

Now if I could just figure out why the installer doesn't see the target drive having enough space…

I never met such issue, can't yet figure out the cause. Where is located the folder "install" to which you mounted .iso? If it is not inside ~/.wine/drive_c (or whatever WINEPREFIX you have) I would try to copy all the files from that folder to some folder inside ~/.wine/drive_c.

EDIT: ...And to run the setup indicating explicitly the same WINEPREFIX.

Some very old setup programs truncate drive sizes, usually by taking the actual size modulo 2**32 in whatever units the program was working. What game is this?

Yeah, if there is too much free space in the partition the maths can break down - for DOS max disk/partition was 2GB, and W98 more like 128MB.
