|
|
I downloaded the Tor browser and I couldn't run it...it simply wouldn't launch...
So I went to freenode and asked on their support channel, they said that glibc is needed...
I just installed glibc....but no difference...
Does anyone know what other dependencies are needed ?
I remember that I installed a package back in the days and then Tor would run...

I never used tor, but likely you've probably been trolled. Glibc is on just about all Linux distributions, and unless you've been using µclibc or musl, you're using glibc. This is unless you require a later version of glibc, but Gentoo tends to use fairly recent versions.
If you emerge tor you should have picked up the dependencies, but again I don't use tor. _________________ Intel Core i7 2700K@ 4.1GHz/HD3000 graphics/8GB DDR3/180GB SSD

Ok I figured out, I needed gtk+ and dbus-glib .... now it is working...
Should I unmerge glibc now ?
when I am running:
portage complains that it is needed by libcrypt and gcc...
do you recommend doing:
Code: | unmerge glibc
emerge -av --depclean |
? |

As stated in your other thread Question about glibc., no, you should not remove sys-libs/glibc. |
