I installed Gentoo without glibc .... then after sometime I installed it..Now i want to uninstall it ...
Now when I am running:

Code:
emerge -cav glibc

portage complains that it is needed by libcrypt and gcc...

do you recommend doing:

Code:
unmerge glibc
emerge -av --depclean

?

Really? How did you do that? And which C standard library (libc) do you use instead of glibc?

Unless you install a different C standard library: definitely not! It would ruin your machine.

I am on the default/linux/amd64/17.1 profile. ... this is the profile I chose during Gentoo's installation ....

Everything ran smoothly before installing glibc ...

As stated in the other thread, you must be using some libc, and right now for Gentoo it's µClibc, musl, or glibc. Most likely if you don't know, you are using glibc and if you emerge glibc, it merely upgrades or reinstalls it.

You most certainly don't want to uninstall it if you weren't using another libc.
