Hello fellow Gentoo-gamers!

I'd like to install the x86 version of etlegacy on my amd64 system because the x86 version supports more mods.

What are my options?

My system is multilib (the default these days), but when I request
emerge etlegacy
It always installs the amd64 version

Is there a way to do this without having to chroot x86?

Thank you

The repo im using doesn't have that package but i installed etlegacy 32 bit version with the installer from the official page.
There are two options:

The 64bit version (which doesn't allow you to play on 32 bit game servers) and the 32bit one.

if you go for the 32bit (I think most players do this), you will only need libGLU.so.1 and libasound.so.2 in your /lib/ directory. That'd be media-libs/glu and media-libs/alsa-lib iirc (the i386 version)

Hi Piep!

I was able to install the 32-bit version using the chroot method, but I couldn't get OpenGL to work :-(

What I ended up doing was installing the 32-bit version for Windows, under Wine, and that works perfectly and was easy to do! Wine Rules!

Nice! that's also a valid option. Btw, the chroot method was probably not needed in your case since you got Wine in your system which has likely pulled tons of 32bit libraries anyways. Afaik, the chroot method is used to keep the whole steam x86_32 bloat isolated from an otherwise pure x86_64 system.
