I guess fans probably enjoyed that. Two main points where I thought it was too much were after the recap where he comments about the audience being caught up. Then the part(s) where he comments about superheroes getting movies, etc. Other than that it was typical of the style. I liked the parts with him and the cab driver. The bartender and girlfriend characters also worked well. Oh, and his roommate.

Leslie Uggams as Blind Al!

What about the opening titles? That was great.

You really should watch Deadpool 2!

The titles were fine. Oh, one other too far on the 4th wall, the not being able to afford more X-Men with the empty boarding house or whatever they call it. I'm not familiar with Leslie, but I thought it was much younger actress playing the character.

2 is on the list. ~2hr blocks of time aren't easy to come by. I've watched a couple in segments, and I don't think helps, so I've tried to only start when I think I can finish.

Not specifically on my list, but I have Dean and Janet on the list.

Duck Soup (1933)

Marx Brothers. I guess you had to be then. Only about an hour long, but feels longer. Chico and Harpo's style of comedy didn't lend itself well to the movie. I guess it was supposed to be the Idiocracy of the time. I would be curious to hear a professional critic defend their opinion of it being the Brothers' best film. I hope not.

Gaslight (1944)

Angela Lansbury's debut at 18, nominated for best supporting actress. Not as good as I'd hoped, but decent. My issue was primarily with Boyer's nominated performance. Nothing was portrayed that made the relationship convincing, which of course has a significant impact on being able to suspend disbelief. But, I appreciate the origin story.

Cabaret (1972)

Critics definitely see things I don't. But then I watch the story being told and don't try to jump to conclusions about subtext. It was OK, but not otherwise notable.

A Man Could Get Killed (1966)

James Garner. Basic plot elements of a bumbling chase, reminiscent of It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (1963). Mad World has more, funnier moments, but it is also at least an uncomfortable hour longer, making it a slog.

Only minor changes would have been necessary for it to have been an episode of The Rockford Files, but the show was more compelling. Decent, but easy to understand why neither Garner nor Sandra Dee thought much of it.

Some movies are just like wine, they are even better decades later after they were made. Having in mind Idiocracy, or maybe this one :D

Watched 'Hard Kill', here is the source code of the most capable AI, which can, I quote "Erase everything".

The movie is piece of crap, 4 out of 10, but it has Bruce Willis in it.. maybe he was very desperate for a paycheck.

Another one recently watched, Max_Winslow_and_the_House_of_Secrets, according to the main hero (a girl and a hacker), this is the best poetry she could come up with for the literacy assignment class, according to her it is beautiful because, "each word has deep meaning, without a word the whole thing breaks apart".

The movie itself is 5 out of 10, teenage action adventure.

He's done quite a few generic action hero movies. I'm guessing there's a combination of having been typecast, getting fewer calls at his age, and taking "paycheck" roles to pay for other more interesting roles if they come along. Then there's the issue of sitting around a house all day, or other variations of not doing much.

Guardians of the Galaxy

I may have had higher expectations than were fair. One problem with adaptations is when they try to put too much into it directly from the source material. The opening sequence seemed completely unnecessary except for the reference made to it toward the end, also unnecessary, except for the opening. The item abandoned for 26 years seemed pointless as well. There were some other minor issues that were less than helpful to the the story.

Not having been a reader of comic books, one common theme that has surprised me as been the reliance on unbeatable entities. That are eventually beaten. Thor, whatever it was in Deadpool, and now this one. Oh well, I guess enough others want that. I thought Deadpool was quite a bit more enjoyable.

A Perfect Crime - Netflix documentary on murder of Detlev Rohwedder

https://www.netflix.com/title/81022994

Very interesting and definitely recommended.

Edit: Detlev Rohwedder was responsible for privatisation of state-owned property in the former German Democratic Republic (GDR)
