I didn't think it sounded all that interesting. And the trailer confirms.

Have you seen Falling Down? It is loosely similar. I thought it was pretty good. The theatrical version had a camera trick that made it slightly better than non-theatrical versions.

Falling Down was good. Michael Douglas was somewhat relatable on occasion, there was self-awareness and even humour. All largely absent from Unhinged. I'm not aware of the camera trick in the theatrical release, been a long time since I seen Falling Down.

In the beginning of the movie while he is in his car stuck in the traffic jam, shots from his perspective used a fish-eye lens. I had later seen a cable/rental version that used a normal lens. I'm sure it would have been fine without it, but I thought it contributed a lot to his mood.

Real Men (1987)

John Ritter and James Belushi. I was mainly curious about Ritter.·

Too much on the slapstick side, and it didn't work. They took too long to "develop" Ritter's character, and then it was too late.

A somewhat similar but much better movie is The Hard Way (1991) with James Woods and Michael J. Fox.

Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961)

This more closely resembles movies of "that era" which I associate with not being particularly good. I guess I had seen top many like this compared with some of the others I've seen recently and enjoyed. It isn't that bad, it just wasn't that good.

Presumably the most notable aspects of the movie was the portrayal of the characters; Peppard being a kept mean by Neal and Hepburn as a "free spirit." Today it seems a bit predictable with not much else notable.

Speed Racer (2008)

An attempt was made to resemble the series, but with live action, it didn't work well. I think it would have been better to learn why Who Framed Roger Rabbit worked (mostly). Hirsch didn't work form me as Speed. Goodman/Pops seemed to be the best fit, and Racer X was fine. Ricci wasn't the best fit as Trixie, but neither was she bad. Spritle and the monkey seemed forced, but I'm not sure much can be expected from children and monkeys in film.

Begotten

You have to watch this if you haven't. Might be the best film ever made. Not for the psychologically fragile though.

Whole movie here:

Hey, they should do a Weekend at Bernies III with the Democrats and Justice Ginsburg!

From EU here, and not at all into politics, so I had to google Justice Ginsburg. Seen the pic, still doesn't ring a bell.

I guess the Weekend at Bernie's was subliminally summoned by the youtube link you posted (Begotten - 1991 E. Elias Merhige). Begotten is too dark and disturbing, couldn't watch it, sorry.

So, if it has to be macabre, at least let's have a dancing zombie on a sunny beach, like in Weekend at Bernie's II :D

The plot sounds weak. And Sontag was a leading advocate for its release. So that's 2 against your recommendation (3 including RoGeorge).

Requiem for a Dream (2000)

I guess... Drugs are bad, mmmmkaay.

I was apparently not the target audience. Not much about it was worthwhile, and I thought the praised "fast editing" was tiresome by the third time. The only partially sympathetic character was the mother.

I'm thinking of ending things on Netflix.

Recommended.

As films about drugs, first that comes to mind is

Enter the Void (2009)
Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JJkPLYmUyzg

good as a movie but no fun, so instead, better watch this one :D

How High (2001)

@RoGeorge:

I don't seek out movies "about drugs." I look for a compelling story.

Enter the Void is described as an "experimental drama art film," so that's a big red flag ;). And the trailer doesn't give me hope for a compelling story.

The other one is described as a "stoner comedy." So, uh, yeah. But Afroman is still funny.

Cloud Atlas (2012)

I'm guessing the actors enjoyed making it. The arcs of 1936 and 2012 seemed to work against the overall plot of the film. Although I felt each story could have made its own at least decent movie. 1849 and 1973 were the more compelling of the historical arcs.

Despite the largest time gap, 2144 and 2321 seemed the most connected and enjoyable. Maybe that was intentional. Without that, I don't think it would have worked at all. As a whole, the vignettes didn't pull the main plot together well enough to convey the ideas I believe they intended.

Nomadland - I hope to have last seen in some weeks. I love the actress (Billboards). And I wonder how the story writer and the filmmaker did it so fast to get the film ready and a price in Venice when the story is the story of the U.S. in crisis with evictions, fires and hurricans.

Tim Burton's Batman Returns.

Man! Tim Burton + Nicolas Cage, that's something I'd love to see.

"I Know This Much Is True" ?

Not much interested in names but numbers I wasn't aware of it til the end of the series.

Waiting for "Superman" (2010)

Offers a compellingly obvious solution to a well known, decades old problem. Ten years later and unwavering support for the annual Dance of the Lemons should bring a tear to the eye of even the hardest of hearts.

Deadpool

Over use of adolescent humor took more from the film than it added. Except for a couple of scenes, most of that is probably the source of the R rating. Mr. Chrome and Miss Nuke were fairly weak. Same for Mrs. Frances. I guess Frances had to be minimally mutant to be an appropriate opponent for Deadpool. Very middle of the road.

I liked the portrayal of the character, I just didn't care for big chunks of the move. I thought talking to the camera was the biggest problem (though I did appreciate the homage at the end). And the weak other characters.

Breaking the 4th Wall is carried over from the Marvel Comic Deadpool.

I guess fans probably enjoyed that. Two main points where I thought it was too much were after the recap where he comments about the audience being caught up. Then the part(s) where he comments about superheroes getting movies, etc. Other than that it was typical of the style. I liked the parts with him and the cab driver. The bartender and girlfriend characters also worked well. Oh, and his roommate.
