When using 'links' on the console, I usually search for Gentoo Forums posts through Google (because the forums' own search feature is a complete POS).
Today as I'm trying to fix a software updating issue, I find that I cannot follow such links (whether http or https) because the connection is being refused. What changed?

This is my emerge:
Code: |
emerge -pv links
These are the packages that would be merged, in order:
Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild R ] www-client/links-2.12-r2:2::gentoo USE="X bzip2 gpm ipv6 jpeg ssl tiff unicode zlib -directfb -fbcon -libressl -livecd -lzma (-suid) (-svga)" 0 KiB

Maybe it was a temporary thing. Is it still happening to you? _________________ Gentoo Studio: A Gentoo-based, professional digital audio workstation OS. |

Sorry for the lack of reply. I never had occasion to followup on replicating and/or diagnosing that problem. It was in a fresh Gentoo installation that just didn't work out for various reasons and has now been abandoned. So I don't know if it was a temporary thing or something I did while installing/configuring things.
Today in a completely different Gentoo installation I find that 'links' in an xterm and 'links' on the console both work as expected wrt following google search hits to this site.
So... nevermind, I guess. |
