Hi,

I am working on a new install of gentoo on an x86 (32-bit) machine.

Code:

genkernel all
ERROR: kernel source directory "/usr/src/linux" was not found!

I looked at the /etc/genkernel.conf file and I see this line:

DEFAULT_KERNEL_SOURCE="/usr/src/linux"

The, directory, /usr/src/linux, does not exist.

What is the correct value for this?

Can someone give me a clue about what is going on here?

Thanks,
donjames

I looked at the install procedure again and I didn't do:

emerge --ask sys-kernel/gentoo-sources

I will do that and see what happens.

You will also need to select the fresh installed sources using "eselect kernel" module if you didn't emerge with "USE=symlink".

Code:

eselect kernel list
Available kernel sysmlink targets:
[1] linux-5.4-gentoo *

Looks like everything is working now.

Thank you guys for the help.
