my /etc/locale.gen was empty and glibc installed all possible locales when it was emerged during a system update.

I proceeded to edit /etc/locale.gen, I un-commented en_US.UTF-8 UTF-8 and sudo locale-gen

How do I completely remove other locales that were installed by glibc ?

should I run

Code:
locale-gen --purge en_US.UTF-8

or should I

Code:
rm -rfv /usr/share/locale/*

Many Thanks

Code:
rm -rfv /usr/share/locale/*

You'd better not do that! :shiver:

Try:
Code:
ls -la /usr/lib64/locale/locale-archive
rm /usr/lib64/locale/locale-archive
locale-gen
ls -la /usr/lib64/locale/locale-archive
