Title says it all. What's a good PC wireless card?

One that works, of course.

...

I am presently using the wifi on a motherboard that has Intel Wireless AC-9260 on-board. It just works, but I'm no connoisseur. Everything else is wired or Pi.

I bought a Panda Wireless PAU06 USB wireless adapter to use with my raspberry pi. Driver installation worked flawlessly, but I can't get it to connect to my home wifi network for some reason. I bought it because I was having the same problem with the wireless on the pi board, but apparently it wasn't the chipset that was the problem, since I am now 0 for 2.

I have found the ath9k cards to be pretty reliable and well supported. No specific card recommendations as my current card uses an experimental driver and I'm not impressed with it.

Network controller: Intel Corporation Wireless 3165 (rev 81)

Never had a single problem with it.

I have also used a pcie based intel 7260 card successfully.

Looking at the gentoo wiki, they mention that if the install cd does not support your wireless card, you will need to ...

I cannot find any list of wifi chips that are supported by the install cd. Maybe someone else knows where that list is found. That could be a good place to start.

I also used some TP Link TL-WN725N usb wifi dongles with the Pi 2. I think one of the earlier Kali Linux posts cautions that they changed the chip at some point.
