The new net-dns/bind and net-dns/bind-tools (version 9.16.4) appear to have a conflict with the following man pages :

  • /usr/share/man/man1/nsupdate.1.bz2
  • /usr/share/man/man1/delv.1.bz2

Before this version, both files were installed only by net-dns/bind-tools, but it appears net-dns/bind now attempts to install them too. Portage detects a file collision and refuses to update bind. Is this a bug in the ebuild, do I have conflicting use flags or something else ?

Code:

 * checking 352 files for package collisions
 * This package will overwrite one or more files that may belong to other
 * packages (see list below). You can use a command such as `portageq
 * owners / <filename>` to identify the installed package that owns a
 * file. If portageq reports that only one package owns a file then do
 * NOT file a bug report. A bug report is only useful if it identifies at
 * least two or more packages that are known to install the same file(s).
 * If a collision occurs and you can not explain where the file came from
 * then you should simply ignore the collision since there is not enough
 * information to determine if a real problem exists. Please do NOT file
 * a bug report at https://bugs.gentoo.org/ unless you report exactly
 * which two packages install the same file(s). See
 * https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Knowledge_Base:Blockers for tips on how
 * to solve the problem. And once again, please do NOT file a bug report
 * unless you have completely understood the above message.
 *
 * Detected file collision(s):
 *
 *    /usr/share/man/man1/nsupdate.1.bz2
 *    /usr/share/man/man1/delv.1.bz2
 *
 * Searching all installed packages for file collisions...
 *
 * Press Ctrl-C to Stop
 *
 * net-dns/bind-tools-9.16.4:0::gentoo
 *    /usr/share/man/man1/delv.1.bz2
 *    /usr/share/man/man1/nsupdate.1.bz2
 *
 * Package 'net-dns/bind-9.16.4' NOT merged due to file collisions. If
 * necessary, refer to your elog messages for the whole content of the
 * above message.

I don't know where to find the elog messages.

Thanks, couldn't find the bug using delv.1.bz2 as keyword. Guess I need to learn how to use bugzilla's search feature.

Usually I use 'ALL category/package' keyword
