This will allow an easy method of contacting all moderators at one time.
  • Users:
    • If you spot what you believe to be a duplicate post, please post a link to it here. In addition, include a link to what is being duplicated.
    • If you find a post you think belongs in a different forum, let us know.
    • Avoid multiple reports of spam:
      • If a user's posts are all spam, report the user, not the posts.
      • Review this thread after submitting a report. Please delete your report if someone beat you to the punch.
    • Any other post that you think requires moderation (violations of Guidelines, broken BBcode, etc.).

  • Moderators:
    • Please delete posts after you've addressed them.
Thanks in advance.

Reason: I thought that was a genuine user, but now I think we have a really well disguised advertising profile here.
Also, the skill level presented on the forums seems to be kinda low compared to the one required for the linked website.

Reason: if i was myself having issue with sound, i would make a post asking to get a solve rather than querying someone else if he manage to have his sound working (as my sound issue won't get fix by his answer)
and with zillions threads about sound issues we have, i would had choose an active one rather than a 2016 post

Reason: New user posting Windows-specific advice ("set it to start as admin in the compatibility settings of game.exe"). There is no sign of profile spam or in-post spam yet. The user might merely be lost, but should be watched.

Usually I like to wait for them to add them URLs, but this time I went ahead and binned them posts already. However, I kept the hammer sheathed(!?) for now. Let's see what it will do next, if anything!Chiitoo

I clicked it. I can't read Portuguese, but it looks okay to me. Necropost was bad, but sometimes people don't notice the date.
Maybe watch, but don't ban.

Didn't post on any forum.
Private messaged me about one of my post.
If my expectations are correct, we likely won't hear much of him in the future.

Just notifying, as I guess there isn't much to do by now but wait & see.

Having a look at the message itself (it was reported as potential spam, after all), it could be a legitimate user who does not quite grasp the whole "ask in public, for the benefit of the public" aspect of forums. Though it does bear watching, thanks. -- the all seeing I

How about ease your life guys?
I mean, send each of them with 1 post and suspicious a pm from an admin asking him a reply within a week or account delete? a kindof ping->pong or die

Newbie needs help with basic use of portage. It is in the right place. Cut him a little slack. He's getting help and it is in the right place. His problem is not with the specific package but general regarding overlays and ebuilds.

Such a report and subsequent move is nothing against the user. It is for other users, potential newbies, not to be confused with advice to get something out-of-tree running that is often detrimental to a regular system. After the overlay/ebuild usage questions were settled it is now already headed down a deeper path specific to this out-of-tree package.

And then now it is looking as if they are using Sabayon as well, so all the more reason to move it.

Topic moved with a health warning to others. -- NeddySeagoon

As I understand it, moving to Unsupported Software is appropriate (a) if the request involves running the software on a derivative of Gentoo (such as Sabayon, or Calculate), because those derivatives usually make changes that could be relevant to the request; or (b) if the request involves running software that is out-of-tree, because such packages often require special handling to deal with their dependencies, to eliminate incorrect use of bundled libraries, etc. Despite the name Unsupported Software, many forum regulars read that forum and provide support to requesters who have been sent there. In this case, the thread seeks to run software that satisfies both (a) and (b), and the request is further complicated by its very outdated dependencies. The poster linked to advice on how to install the package on Ubuntu, but that advice covers Ubuntu 14.10 as its newest Ubuntu. According to Wikipedia, and that version number, that release would have been in October 2014, with Ubuntu 15.04 to follow in April of 2015. The cited advice makes no mention of 15.04, suggesting that it has not been updated in more than 5 years.
