hi all.

i bought a new laptop and like to install gentoo on it but the livecd does not boot with modeset but without.when i use nomodset i can not start x (no screen found) .is there a way to
get me in to X.here is my lspci:

Just guessing. Probably the LiveCD you are using has too old kernel for your hardware. Solutions:
1. use a more recent LiveCD;
2. SSH into your laptop, then you can run X and copy and paste commands to SSH window.

hi Jaglover .i am using the 2016 livecd.is there an newer..yes i have had ssh in mind.thanks

edit...i have a gentoo installation allready on the ssd but but the bootloader was in legacy mode and i installed ubuntu side by side.but ubuntu wiped my /boot.can i use ubuntu
to make gentoo bootable again
