Sometimes I hit up FGO looking for questions I can answer while waiting for something to compile. Sometimes I have a couple of quick answers in a row, and I get the annoying-but-I-understand-why-it's-there message, "too soon."

My solution: Note the URL, log out, log back in, post answer.

Just a little tip for those of us trying to help.

Then again I wonder if the amount of time to record the URL, log out and log back in is shorter than waiting out the timeout... :D

It is to keep the robot spammers at bay. Without that, if one of them gets thru they'll start posting as fast as the server allows, leading to an absolute mess in just a few minutes. Even with this timeout as it is, there can be (and there has been) problems when there's no moderators around and one of them starts up.

There's no doubt more intelligent ways of handling this, however, due to the age of the software and other things not all of which are under our control, it is unlikely to change in the near future. Sorry.

It's all good. Keeping spammers out is l337.

Would be nice to see a forum upgrade, though, especially to do things like make it mobile-friendly. Maybe set something up under a new sub-domain, let it get tested thoroughly and eventually switch the web server conf to point to it.

The pitfall with beer is it reduces accuracy more than it reduces speed. By the time speed is not a problem, the answer is not going to be a solution :lol:
